I came to the United States in 1998. After
two weeks I met a very nice and interesting gentleman. After a while we
started going out.
My birthday came up in the fall. That day was
full of great surprises. I wasn’t really expecting any expensive
presents from my friend. A few days before my birthday, I got a very
nice greeting card by mail.
The morning of my birthday I heard the door
buzzer. I hurried to open the door. There stood my friend hiding
something behind his back. I welcomed him into the house. He came in and
congratulated me with a dozen wonderful red roses. I was so happy
because they were flowers from my beloved. I really appreciated his
kindness.
After a while in a very friendly way he
invited me to go out. I took a day off from work and we went out. He
decided to show me his residence. We drove into a yard, stopped, got out
of his car and climbed up the stairs to the house. His home looked very
comfortable, clean and cozy. For a minute he disappeared in another
room, but he quickly returned to me. In his hand he held a small box. He
opened it and I saw an engagement ring. He gave it to me and I was very
surprised. Later he showed me his house and he suggested that we go to a
restaurant for dinner. We took a ride to Rhode Island to the Coast Guard
House on Narragansett Bay.
Six month later, we got married and I became
his wife. On special occasions he always buys expensive presents for me
and we always go to the same restaurant on the sea to celebrate our
anniversary.
