MY AMERICAN AUNT

by Josiane Reinert

I would like to talk about a person that I met a couple of years ago. I first met her at my job. She is a social worker and her name is Linda. I used to go to her house every other week. At that time I was working at a cleaning company. We were a group of four people and I was the supervisor. She and I used to talk a lot about the cleaning.

Some months later I left the company and started working for myself. Guess who was the first door that I knocked on? Linda’s house.

Since then I have been working for her. I go there once a week and now we are more than friends. She calls me niece and I call her aunt. We have built such a great friendship. She has helped me a lot in many different aspects. I have had great new experiences and I have learned a lot from her.

Everyday we learn something different from each other. Now I consider her my American aunt. It has been so wonderful to be around her. My favorite day of the week is the day when I go to her house. We have time to clean, to go out shopping, and have lots of fun.
