HOLIDAY

by Emma Surilova

For many years Russian women have celebrated the wonderful holiday Women’s Day on March 8th. It is a day off for all people in Russia. On this day all women receive gifts from men and employers. Sometimes women have a party at work with wine, food and cake. At home husbands and children try to cook the meals while mothers rest. They give flowers to their wives and mothers.

On these days all subway stations look like gardens, so many flowers are sold there. All people are in a good mood. The TV has a special show about and for women.

But on the next day the wife wakes up early and begins to cook breakfast… Still a new Women’s Day will come again.
