Every Christmas I always get some gifts from
my family and my friends, but last Christmas I got a special gift from
the police.
On Christmas Eve I went to the Solomon Pond
Mall, which is not far from my home. Usually when I go to the Solomon
Pond Mall I never take the highway. I always take a shortcut from
Bigelow Street, but there are nine stop signs on this street.
That night there were no stars in the sky and
there were no cars on the road. It was dark and quiet. When I saw the
first stop sign, I stopped my car completely and I did the same thing at
the second stop sign. When I saw the third stop sign, I thought that the
police weren’t there. They all might be eating Christmas dinner now, so
I drove slowly and didn’t make a full stop at the stop sign.
Suddenly a police car drove out of the woods,
turned on the alarm signal and followed my car. I pulled over and waited
for the police. After two minutes a policeman came over. He smiled at me
and said, “You didn’t stop your car at the stop sign. Give me your
driver’s license and car registration please.” I handed them over to the
policeman immediately. I was upset, but I said to myself, “It’s my
mistake, I’m willing to get a ticket and pay the fine.”
When I went home, I showed the $50 ticket to
my husband. My husband said, “It is the best lesson you learned. It is
also a special Christmas gift.”
