A GREAT POWER OF A MOTHER

by Youn Soon Lee

A woman is weak, but a mother is strong in the world. We already have heard these words and most people don’t resist them.

I am a mother of three daughters. Eighteen years ago, I experienced a miracle through my oldest daughter, Hye Kyung. She was four years old and a pre-school student in Seoul, Korea. Her school was not far from my house, only five minutes away.

One day it was the usual time that she came back home. Therefore, I was waiting and preparing some snacks for her. All of sudden, I heard my daughter crying. I felt my blood quickly rise to my head. In a moment, I was running toward a crying child. I couldn’t think of anything except I had to keep my child from strangers.

A few seconds later I saw that she had fallen down on the street. I raised her up quickly. Fortunately, she only got a little scratch on her knee. When I gathered my mind, I realized that I was barefoot, and we were a long distance from my house.

I couldn’t understand why no one heard my child crying except me. I think it was telepathy between child and his or her mother. I think it was a miracle, and it shows a mothers’ strong love for their children. If my children are ever in a bad situation, I will give them my body and my whole life, too. This word may not be just a thought; I believe that most mothers have the same love and the same opinion about their children in the world.

I feel a warm heart when I think about my mother’s strong and passionate love. I miss my mother who is in heaven.
